DUFOUR LEADS BOND AUTO/WIX RESERVE CHAMPION FOLLOWING ACTion SUPER SERIES OPENER

Bethlehem, New Hampshire's Ken Dufour leads the Bond Auto/Wix Reserve Champion standings following Sunday's opening event in the ACTion Super Series at Thunder Road Int'l Speedbowl, Barre, VT. Dufour, winner of the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200's Last Chance "B" Feature had an agonizing decision to make following his victory - to take the transfer into the $10,000 to win main event or take the money and run. Dufour opted for the latter and its $1,000 prize money. As a result the veteran ACT Tour competitor sits atop the standings.

"As a racer, it's a hard decision to turn down a transfer spot into one of the biggest races of the season," Dufour explained. "I had only bought four of the allowed six tires, so I'd be fighting an uphill battle coming from the rear of the field. Basically it came down to the fact that the $1,000 would buy a lot of tires in the other two (ACTion Super Series) races. Plus, I would be leading the points heading into Lee (USA Speedway) in three weeks," he finished.
The Bond Auto/Wix Reserve Championship is an inventive program put in place for American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model drivers not making the field in any or all three main events of the ACTion Super Series. At Thunder Road, 55 cars attempted to qualify for 30 starting positions. The 25 drivers not qualifying earned points toward the Bond Auto/Wix Reserve Championship. At the end of the year, a $10,000 point fund will be awarded to eligible drivers, with $1,500 going to the winner.
Mike Collins from Strafford, NH sits second to Dufour in the Reserve Champions standings (100-99). Ironically, as the next eligible driver, Collins earned a transfer spot into the Bond Auto Labor Day Classic when Dufour turned down his. The Lee USA Speedway regular, who was at Thunder Road for the first time, developed engine problems in the final laps of the "B" Feature and elected to give another competitor the starting spot.
Jacob McGrath is third in the standings (98), Bobby Baillargeon (97) and AJ Begin (96) complete the top five.
The second of three races in the ACTion Super Series, the Re/Max Alliance National 150, is scheduled for Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH, on Sunday, September 25. The Series concludes on Saturday and Sunday, October 1-2 with the New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl Thunder Road.
