Tom Curley, ACT’s president commented, “We’ve been working on the Tour schedule since late last season and are delighted with the final results. In addition to heading to some of the Northeast’s top tracks, we will be returning to a pair of tracks in Quebec that have great historical significance to ACT. For the veterans, visiting the Circuit Ste-Croix and the Sanair Super Speedway will be like putting on a favorite pair of slippers. For the newer and younger teams, competing at the 5/8ths mile Ste-Croix and the 7/8ths mile Sanair tri-oval will certainly be one of the highlights of their careers.”
The 2006 schedule will kick off at Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl, on Sat/Sun, April 29/30 with the eighth Merchants Bank 150. The high banked, quarter-mile oval will host two additional events, the 27th annual Bond Auto Labor Day Classic 200 (Sep 2/3) and the 43rd New England Dodge Dealers Milk Bowl (Sep 30/Oct 1). The two season ending events will be part of the ACTion Super Series and will each pay $10,000 to win.
New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park, in N. Woodstock, a high banked quarter-mile oval and Oxford (ME) Plains Speedway, a semi-banked 3/8ths miler will each host a pair of ACT Tour events. The White Mountain races are slated for Sat, June 10 (Country Pools & Spa 100) and Sat, Aug. 12 (Granite State 150). The Tour will head to Oxford for the Mainely Sports 100 on Sat, July 29 and will return on Sat, Aug 19 for the Sun Journal 150.
Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH, a 3/8ths mile high banked speedplant will host the Tour’s Re/Max 100 on Friday, May 19. ACT will return to the Bay State’s 1/3rd mile Speekonk Speedway (Seekonk, MA) on Sat, June 24 for the fourth year for a 100 lapper. Plattsburgh, New York’s Airborne Speedway, a D-shaped ½ mile will host its annual ACT Tour race, a 100 lapper, on Sat, July 22.
The ACT Tour will return to the fast, high banked Circuit Ste-Croix (Ste-Croix, Qc) for the first time since 2003 on Sat, June 17 for a 100 lap race. Previous winners at the speedplant include Brent Dragon, Sylvain Lacombe, Jean-Paul Cyr, Mike Bruno, and Brian Hoar.
The ACT Tour opened the 7/8th mile Sanair Super Speedway (1.3 km) in 1983 and was a fixture at the slightly banked tri-oval until 1994. Past Late Model winners at the Tour’s longest track include Norm Andrews, Brian Hoar, and Steve Miller. No active drivers have carried the checkers at the St. Pie, Qc track. The Fleur de Lys International Classic 150 is set for Sat/Sun, July 8/9.
Season entries for the 2006 12-race ACT Tour are available for Late Model teams through the ACT office in Waterbury, VT. Drivers submitting a season entry prior to February 1 are entitled to a discounted rate.
