2nd Annual "Wheels For Warmth" Exceeds Expectations - Rain Fails to Dampen Charity Effort
IN SPITE OF THE INCLEMENT WEATHER THOUSANDS OF TIRES WERE BROUGHT TO DUBOIS CONSTRUSTION FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL "WHEELS FOR WARMTH" TIRE DROP & SWAP - THESE VEHICLES ARE IN THE DROP OFF LINE DMV OFFICERS WERE ON HAND TO INSPECT EACH AND EVERY TIRE. BEFORE A TIRE COULD BE SOLD IT HAD TO MEET MINIMUM SAFETY STANDARDS - IF THE TIRE DIDN'T PASS MUSTER THE OWNER COULD DISPOSE OF IT ON SITE AT A DISCOUNTED RATE. CASELLA WASTE MANAGEMENT THEN DONATED $2.50 FROM EACH $4 RECYCLING FEE TO THE WHEELS FOR WARMTH PROGRAM.
DUE TO THE RAIN, THE MAINTENANCE GARAGES AT DUBOIS CONSTRUCTION WERE PUT INTO SERVICE SO PURCHASERS COULD SHOP IN COMFORT. FOLKS LOOK THROUGH SOME OF THE TIRES AVAILABLE FOR SALE WHICH WERE SORTED BY SIZE IN DIFFERENT GARAGE BAYS AND STACKED IN PAIRS OR SETS. SOME EVEN HAD WHEELS! AT THE ROCK BOTTOM PRICES OF $5, $10 AND $15 PER TIRE, DEPENDING ON SIZE, THE INVENTORY WENT QUITE QUICKLY. STAFF FROM CASELLA WASTE MANAGEMENT FILLED TWO TRACTOR TRAILERS WITH SOME 2,000 TIRES TO BE RECYCLED -
