Drivers receiving nominations for "Speedy" awards:
Joey Polewarczyk, from Hudson, NH will enter his third year of ACT competiion in 2007. He was nominated for Breakout Racer of the Year and Best Individual Performance in an Event (from the Milk Bowl).
Six-time ACT Champion, Jean-Paul Cyr from Milton, VT received a nomination for Best Northeast Touring Racer.
Timeless veteran, Joey Laquerre made the short list for the Long Haul award. Laquerre, who hails from East Montpelier, VT, has won a feature race in each of five decades.
Thunder Road's reigning King of the Road, Chad Wheeler from Waterbury Cetner, VT received a nommmination as Best Weekly Racer.
Thunder Road (Barre, VT) was among the seven tracks making the nomination list for having the Best Weekly Show.
The Milk Bowl, the traditional season closing event at Thunder Road's high banked, quarter-mile oval was nominated as Best Individual Promotion. The event has already been honored by National Speed Sport News as the year's top annual short track promotion.
Ryan Vanasse of Warwick, RI, a regular competitor on the ACT Tour for the past two seasons, also received a nomination for the Best Individual Performance in an Event. On an off weekend, Vanasse returned to his home track and found himself in the thick of the action.
The Speedy Awards will be awarded at the SpeedwayEXPO on Sunday afternoon (March 4). For information on other categories visit the show's website.
