Pit Notes: NHMS Practice – Afternoon Session
A total of 36 American Canadian Tour Late Model teams attended a day of practice at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Tuesday, August 19. The teams were preparing for the 6th annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational on Saturday, September 20.
The top two fast times in the morning practice session held up through the afternoon. Aaron Fellows of Croydon, NH posted the fastest lap of the day with a 32.051 second lap. Around the 1.058 mile, that’s an average of 118.8 mph. Guy Caron’s time just one tenth of a second slower remained the second fastest time of the day.Right behind that New Hampshire duo was three-time Bond ACT Invitational winner Eddie MacDonald and Jimmy Hebert. Another former Invitational winner in Joey Polewarczyk, Jr completed the top five for fast times. Two-time ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr., Quebec’s Martin Latulippe, Jeff White, Serie ACT point leader Alex Labbe and Tom Carey, Jr. were all in the top ten for fast times.
The afternoon practice session featured a pair of simulated races that saw all kinds of three wide action. In the first race, Tom Carey, Jr. came from the 12th starting spot to take the win. He held off Aaron Fellows for the final several laps. Jeff White, a 2014 ACT winner claimed the win in the second race ahead of Guy Caron.
The day was completed with no issues and everyone brought their car home whole. A field of 43 American Canadian Tour Late Models will be back at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Saturday, September 20 for the 6th annual Bond ACT Invitational.
The American Canadian Tour heads north of the border this Saturday, August 23 for the Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway in St-Croix, QC. It’s ACT’s lone trip to Canada this season to compete with its sister series the Serie ACT.
