Rich Dubeau – Solid season in progressRich Dubeau of Lebanon, NH, driver of the Upper Valley Equipment Rental No.30 Toyota for owner Chick Henry, is halfway through his third season on the American Canadian Tour and things are looking up.
Dubeau is coming off a third-place finish at Seekonk. He sits third in the championship points standings as his team prepares for the next event - Saturday, August 5 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine.
The former Canaan Speedway Super Street champion, who began racing Go-Karts at Sugar Hill, feels that a key to success on the Late Model tour is “to figure out long-distance races.”
“As a team, we have learned not to be afraid to take big swings with the car,” Dubeau says. “Occasionally we hit on stuff. And we’re better note-takers than we used to be.”
“He’s a very good little driver, clean and conscientious, but very much a competitor,” Chick Henry said approvingly. “He’s learned to be patient and not to push it. He enjoys racing with ACT because the drivers respect each other. I find it remarkable they can run as hard and close as they do without tearing up their equipment.”
Dubeau’s crew includes his brother (and spotter) David, Shawn Griffin, Nick Jillson and Brad Griffin. Additional sponsorship support is provided by Upper Valley Stove Company of Lebanon and White River Toyota.
After earning 2015 ACT Rookie of the Year honors, Dubeau placed 7th in the 2016 standings with one top-5 finish and six top 10’s.
His recent 3rd-place result at Seekonk was his second of the season. He also had a podium finish in the Spring Green 117 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway behind race winner and current point leader Scott Payea and No. 2 point man Dillon Moltz.
“We’re still going for our first ACT win,” Dubeau notes. “We led some laps at Oxford Plains last year and we’ve been going good. We’ll see.”
