Autodrome Chaudiere Penalties

LAPERLE TEAM FINED FOR VICTORY LANE ALTERCATION

LAPERLE AND THEETGE BOTH PLACED ON PROBATION

The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that the Patrick Laperle team has received a fine for a post-race incident in victory lane following the 150-lap event held at the Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee Jonction, QC this past Saturday, June 12.

The disciplinary penalty resulted after Laperle, from Montreal, and Donald Theetge, from Quebec City, staged a furious battle for the win in the event which was postponed from the previous night due to an electrical black out. This necessitated running the race on Saturday at noon.

As a result of the constant battle between Theetge and Laperle during the final laps of the event, Karl Allard from Ste. Felicien, QC was able to take advantage of the intense battle. Allard made a three-wide pass underneath the pair as they banged and beat each other down the narrow front stretch at the ¼ mile bullring. Allard went on to win, with Theetge finishing in second. Laperle finished third.

MEKKELSEN RV MEMORIAL DAY CLASSIC

THUNDER ROAD FEATURES TWIN 100’S IN MEMORIAL DAY CLASSIC

Mekkelsen RV will present the 48th annual Memorial Day Classic at Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT this Sunday, May 30. For the third year the Modified Racing Series (MRS), presented by Bob Valenti AutoMall, will join the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Thunder Road Late Models in the twin bill. Each division will race 100 lap features.

The Memorial Day tradition has been going on at the high-banked oval for nearly half a century. Beginning in 1961, the list of winners is a great tribute to some of the men who helped build stock car racing in the northeast. That tradition continues this Memorial weekend.

A favorite to repeat his win from last season’s Memorial Day Classic is David Pembroke from Middlesex, Vermont. “I guess we have some momentum after our win at Devil’s Bowl last weekend, but this Memorial Day race is really a tough one to win. There are so many capable teams that run in championship form at Thunder Road, and they all want to be on that granite monument behind the tower,” said two-time winner Pembroke.

ST-EUSTACHE 100

Patrick Laperle Wins Série ACT Castrol Season Opener

Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC won the season opening Série ACT Castrol event at Autodrome St-Eustache. Laperle worked his way to the front after starting in the 19th position and took the lead from Jonathan Urlin on lap 39. The two swapped the lead once more before Laperle took over for good on lap 43.

Pete Vanderwyst of St. Thomas, ON took second with St-Felicien, QC’s Karl Allard third. 2009 Série Castrol Champion Donald Theetge finished 4th and Urlin rounded out the top five. Sylvain Lacombe, Jean-François Déry, Martin Lacombe, Jonathan Desbiens, and Gaitan Lauzier completed the top ten.

The 100 lap event was completed in just over an hour and a half and was slowed by eight cautions. Seven cars finished on the lead lap with 21 of the 30 starters on the track for the checkers.
