Rocco, Santos, and Newcomb Among Winners in Icebreaker Afternoon Session

Thompson, CT — Hudson, NH’s Derek Griffith went wire-to-wire to capture the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Thompson 75 at the annual Icebreaker on Saturday, April 10. Griffith grabbed the lead in the first corner and was on a rail from there, claiming victory in the headliner for the afternoon session of the 82nd Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park season opener.

Thompson Speedway Roars Back To Life With Icebreaker Practice Session

Thompson, CT — More than 125 cars visited the grounds of Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Friday for a practice session ahead of the season-opening Icebreaker on Saturday, April 10. A mix of drivers from 10 different divisions turned out to tune their rides in for what will be a busy Saturday to open the season at Thompson.

Due to weather, the original Sunday program will be run on Saturday night, following a full day of planned Saturday action. Tickets will be available for purchase at the track.

Icebreaker Sunday Moved to Saturday Night Due to Forecast

Waterbury, VT & Naples, ME — The Sunday program of the annual Icebreaker at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 10 at approximately 5:30pm. American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials made the decision due to an inclement weather forecast for Sunday, April 11. The Saturday night forecast is far more favorable with clear skies highs in the low-60s.

Helliwell Sweeps Hickory Weekend at ACT Easter Bunny 125

Hickory, NC — Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell Jr. pulled a clean sweep of the first American-Canadian Tour (ACT) trip to North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway by winning the Easter Bunny 125 on Saturday, April 3. Helliwell took the lead from New Salem, MA’s Tom Carey III in lapped traffic on the 44th circuit and was unstoppable down the stretch to double up after his victory in the Hickory 125 the night before.

Hickory, NC — Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell Jr. added another accomplishment to his long racing résumé by winning the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Hickory 125 on Friday, April 2. The three-time ACT champion led all but two laps and survived multiple challenges from Herman, ME’s Mike Hopkins to win the series’ first event at North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway.

Twenty-nine teams made the trip to North Carolina’s Hickory Motor Speedway a day early for an open practice session prior to the Hickory 125 on Friday, April 2 and the Easter Bunny 125 on Saturday, April 3.
