Raphael Lessard Leads Final Two Laps to Claim Kancamagus 150 Victory at White Mountain

N. Woodstock, NH — Teams drove down the Kancamagus Highway and Interstate 93 in the rain on Saturday morning to get to White Mountain Motorsports Park, undeterred in the hopes of getting the Kancamagus 150 in on schedule. Those undeterred spirits prevailed with the rains lifting in the early afternoon in time for practice as thirty Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour Late Models hit the highbanks in preparation for the evening’s events.

2023 White Mountain Motorsports Park champion and 2024 Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour Rookie of the Year Kasey Beattie earned the pole position with a +5 through Plus/Minus handicap qualifying with his run in heat two while 2007 King of the Mountain and two time Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour champion D.J. Shaw also earned a +5 in heat three, earning the handicap by winning the first of two consolation races.

Off and running, Beattie confidently led the early portion of Saturday’s Kancamagus 150 before Shaw powered by following a hard restart battle after the lap 28 crunch-up between Alexendre Tardif and Jimmy Renfrew Jr. in turn two. Beattie quickly fired back into the point and once again led straight through to the next caution period, this time on lap 58 for the blown power steering hose underneath the hood of Erick Sand’s #36NH.

From then on it was the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Ford Mustang out front and while Beattie kept himself among the top five, Shaw’s rear-view mirror was getting full of the Larue Industrial Snowblowers emblem. Throughout the second half of the event, the team cars of Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour point leader Raphael Lessard and William Larue loomed in the top five runners, waiting for an opportunity to pounce.

That opportunity came with the lap 146 caution for a spinning Remi Perreault. It was a four lap dash for all the marbles, with Shaw choosing the outside lane on the restart and Lessard to his inside with Beattie and Larue in tow. Real estate became a premium under the twin sticks indicating two to go with Lessard and Shaw leaning on each other in turn one and Shaw sliding back up high in the marbles.

Raphael Lessard came across under the white flag and brought the Larue America Chevy Camaro under the checkered flags to win the Kancamagus 150 with Kasey Beattie and William Larue filling out the podium. The win would mark Lessard’s third career Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour win, his first such win on US soil and his first win in the United States since winning in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Talladega Superspeedway back in 2020.

Former Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour champions Joey Polewarczyk and Gabe Brown rounded out the top five while Community Bank 150 winner Kaiden Fisher followed in sixth and former Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 winner Jesse Switser took seventh. Shaw fell back to finish eighth on the grid with Jonathan Bouvrette and Justin Prescott rounding out the top ten.

After a week off, the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour turns North to Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec on Saturday, June 21 for the Claude Leclerc 150. The first of three showdowns in the Canadian Province of Quebec will pin the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour stars against the Serie ACT Quebec defenders at one of the most dynamic racetracks in the Northeast.
