Following Rain-Out, Officials Confirm Sunday, August 17 for Ste-Croix Make-Up Date
/Ste-Croix, QC & Barre, VT — Thirty three Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour teams made the trip to Circuit Ste-Croix for the Yvon Bedard 149 on Saturday, July 5 with young Eric Lehoux and veteran Dany Trepanier both forced to drop out with mechanical issues following the Friday practice day. While Saturday practice sessions went off without a hitch, rains moved in along the St. Lawrence River just before the 3:15pm Post Time to grind Saturday’s showcase to a halt.
Ste-Croix officials initially confirmed that there was no available rain date, a fact that was relayed to teams throughout the day from the Driver’s Meeting, and the only reason for continuing to stay put as track crews worked to dry out the 5/8-mile facility well into the night. The Yvon Bedard 149 started under the caution flag before the rain washed in again at 11:30pm, pushing officials to finally pull the plug.
It was then released on Circuit Riverside Speedway social media that a rain date did exist, without confirmation to or from ACT officials. Under short-notice, ACT officials scrambled to utilize one of their very limited rain dates and Sunday, August 17 will be used for the make-up date and was later confirmed by Circuit Ste-Croix on Monday afternoon.
The Yvon Bedard 149 will resume Sunday, August 17 at Circuit Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix with the preliminary schedule including a 9:00am Pit Opening time, two thirty-minute practice sessions for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour between 10:30am and 11:45am with a 12-noon start time.
The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returns to action on Saturday, July 19 at Autodrome Montmagny for the $10,000-to-win CAN-AM 200. The next contest North of the Border between New England’s best against Quebec’s all-star cast will once again pit the two against one another with the Quebec Challenge Series also on the line! The $5,000 Quebec Challenge Series champion will now be crowned at Circuit Riverside Speedway on Sunday, August 17.
