Doubleheader Weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway to Play into the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour Championship Chase

Barre, VT — The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returns to its Vacationland home in the great state of Maine this Friday and Saturday for the first doubleheader at Oxford Plains Speedway in over twenty years. The Stars and Cars of the international touring series will compete in the Yvon Bedard 109 on Friday night before turning around for the Oxford 125 on Saturday with teams from across New England and Quebec set to converge on one of the region’s biggest weekends, the 52nd annual Oxford 250!

Strangely enough, this is not the first rain-established doubleheader weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour. Most recently in 2004, Dale Shaw and Shawn Martin split the twin bill but also in the steel-bodied North Tour days back in 1983 where Robbie Crouch swept both 100 lap events. Now, in 2025, we’ll have to wait and see how it all comes out of the wash!

Point leader Raphael Lessard hasn’t been at Oxford Plains Speedway since 2015 while the Larue Motorsports team haven’t hit the Maine oval since 2010. Meanwhile, all three of his closest competitors have found success on the 3/8-mile. D.J. Shaw has yet to win an ACT event at Oxford Plains but comes off a Super Late Model twin feature sweep two weeks ago in his preparation for the Oxford 250 while both Jesse Switser and Gabe Brown have won at the track and are searching for another!

Shelburne, Vermont’s Kaiden Fisher has broken into the top five standings after his stellar performance at the Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 but his stats at Oxford are far from stellar. No doubt the S.D. Ireland Concrete machine will be well prepared for this weekend’s double down to keep him in the running.

Derek Gluchacki and Erick Sands are a pair of racers to keep an eye on as well. Dover, New Hampshire’s Sands led 114 of last year’s Oxford 125 on this very same weekend before Dartmouth, Massachusetts’ Gluchacki swept in to steal the spotlight and the win. As with Vermont’s Taylor Hoar, Gluchacki is looking to solidify his run in the Kulwicki Driver Development Program (KDDP) championship while Sands is looking for redemption in Oxford.

A large contingent of Quebec’s finest is set to join Lessard and fellow Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour full-timers Alexendre ‘Fireball’ Tardif, Jonathan Bouvrette and Remi Perreault at Oxford. Looking to pull back-to-back runs are Sebastien Couture, Christopher Bedard, Michael Lavoie and Louis-Philippe Lauzier while Jeff Cote will be looking for the Quebec Challenge Series championship on Friday and ‘The Iron Man’ Claude Leclerc will make the trip down on Saturday.

Maine’s Colby Meserve will return to the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour while Swanville’s Troy Patterson will take on the Tour for the first time. Trevor Sanborn, the 2024 Oxford Plains Speedway track champion, will be behind the wheel of the CSV Motorsports #45NH this weekend and two-time track champion Dave Farrington Jr. has signed on for Saturday’s 125.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour returns to Oxford Plains Speedway in a big way on Friday and Saturday, August 22 and 23 to join the first two days of the 52nd annual All That’s Metal Oxford 250 weekend. Friday’s Yvon Bedard 109 will crown the Quebec Challenge Series champion with a 5:00pm Post Time before the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour teams make adjustments for the Oxford 125 that headlines the annual ‘Night Before the 250’ Saturday program that starts at 4:00pm!
