Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour Doesn’t Disappoint at the Nation’s Site of Excitement in Spectacular EastRise Labor Day Classic

Barre, VT — The skies opened up to a beautiful Labor Day Sunday at Thunder Road in time for the 48th EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200. Twenty-seven Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour teams converged on the Nation’s Site of Excitement for the 200 lap spectacular with a throwdown for the ages determining whose name would go on the granite monument!

Three heat race qualifiers and a consolation round set the field for the Labor Day Classic with multi-time King of the Road and 2016 ACT champion Nick Sweet earning the pole alongside 2017 Serie ACT Quebec champion Jonathan Bouvrette. Former Labor Day Classic victor Brooks Clark joined the front row starters with ‘+3’ handicaps following qualifying under the green flag.

Sweet launched from the start at his hometrack and showed that he is still very much Ken Squier’s King of Barre with Thunder Road second-place points man Brandon Gray in tow. A spirited battle up front between the two cooled with Gray taking the lead on lap 50 just as the caution flag flew for the competition caution. All cars made their way into the pit area and refueled for the final distance with some opting to jump back pitside for adjustments and tires.

A bad day for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour point leader Gabe Brown kept on a downhill trend. After swapping out a blown motor following the first practice, Brown slowed on the backstretch to bring out the caution on lap 61 with brakes being the issue this time around. Cautions breed cautions with the big-one of the night coming on lap 67 as Cooper Bouchard, Erick Sands and Cole Littlewood spun and collided in turn one with several other drivers looping to steer clear. Gray maintained the lead ahead of Sweet and was in his own area code until Brooks Clark’s backstretch spin on lap 122.

From there on it was a no-holds-barred, white-knuckle fight up front between Gray and Thunder Road point leader Jason Corliss. Corliss, sporting the #91CT for Hartwell Motorsports rather than his familiar #66VT, stalked Gray before pulling up alongside. The two battled side-by-side for over 50 laps with late race contact between the two setting temperatures soaring ever higher in the race to the checkered flag.

Jason Corliss triumphed to his third EastRise Credit Union Labor Day Classic 200 victory ahead of Brandon Gray with the packed Thunder Road faithful letting their feelings known on both sides during the victory lane interviews. Gabe Brown recovered from his day-long mechanical issues to a shocking third-place finish to round out the podium and maintain his touring point lead.

2020 ACT champion Jimmy Hebert took fourth in his first visit with the Tour in 2026 while Jesse Switser took fifth. Kaiden Fisher took sixth at his hometrack followed by Thunder Road regulars Christopher Pelkey and Taylor Hoar. Jonathan Bouvrette kept enough steam to finish ninth with Nick Sweet rounding out the top ten.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour faithful take a much-deserved week off before returning to White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, September 19 for the 48th Fall Foliage 200 presented by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. The extra-distance affair brings plenty of Thunder to the Mountains alongside the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model 150 alongside the NEMA Midgets and NEMA Lites with a 5:00pm Post Time.
