Determination and Consistency Earn ‘Fireball’ 2nd Consecutive Claude Leclerc 150 Win in Vallée-Jonction

Vallée-Jonction, QC — The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour rolled into Autodrome Chaudiere on Saturday morning, bringing with them a second broken record in car count for the 2025 season. After setting the original Late Model car count record of thirty-three for Chaudiere back in 2019, matching it again last year, thirty-six Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour pilots invaded the Beauce oval for the Claude Leclerc 150.

Three rounds of qualifying whittled the thirty-six prospects down to thirty starters for the big dance Saturday afternoon with St-Denis’ Patrick Laperle earning the pole position with an incredible +5 in Plus/Minus handicap procedures with Quebec City’s William Larue, running the #46VT livery for Brian Hoar, set up alongside with a +2.

Larue quickly got the jump on Laperle under the green flag and set off from the pack as Laperle’s iconic, orange #91QC  faced an onslaught via D.J. Shaw, Alexendre Tardif and Dany Trepanier in a top-five firestorm out front. A rough day for Erick Sands only got worse with a stalled car off the backstretch on lap 21 with a second caution on lap 30 seeing Philippe Poulin spin off the nose of Christopher Bedard in turn four.

What came next was a ninety-lap green flag run as Larue made mincemeat of the field, lapping car after car, but it was Kaiden Fisher who put up the greatest fight of all. The defending Thunder Road Speedbowl King of the Road fought tooth and nail with Larue to stay on the lead lap, utilizing the high lane to stay ahead of the leader lap after lap for ages before finally relinquishing on lap 116.

The battle paid off in spades for Fisher who earned the Lucky Dog on lap 120 with a blown right front slowing Mathieu Kingsbury along the frontstretch wall to call out the yellow flag. While it was a celebration for Fisher, it was devastation for Larue. After stalking him for 122 laps, Alexendre Tardif fireballed his way into the lead on lap 123 and, although slowed by three more caution periods in the final twenty-seven laps, never looked back to claim his second consecutive Claude Leclerc 150 victory at Autodrome Chaudiere.

William Larue and Serie ACT Quebec point leader Jeff Cote rounded out an all Quebecois top three for the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour’s first of three trips to La Belle Province in 2025. United States invaders D.J. Shaw and Jesse Switser rounded out the top five followed by Gabe Brown, Raphael Lessard, Michael Lavoie, Patrick Laperle and Jonathan Bouvrette in the top-ten.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour has a quick turn around with the exciting Midweek Madness at Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts and the big 50th Spring Green 125 on Wednesday, June 25. The $6,000-to-win, $650-to-start showdown will celebrate the fiftieth running of one of the great cornerstones of the iconic Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour with teams preparing for a busy stretch of midsummer action!
