Vermont’s Kaiden Fisher Earns Redemption, First Quebec Win in Montmagny CAN-AM 200

Montmagny, QC — Delayed by over a month due to rain, the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour made their second and final trip to Quebec for the 2026 season on Saturday, visiting Autodrome Montmagny for the CAN-AM 200. Thirty-five teams from both sides of the border made the trip with all eyes on the $10,000 prize waiting in victory lane!

Four qualifying heats and two consolation rounds set the starting grid with Dany Gariepy and former Serie ACT Quebec champion Dany Trepanier earning the front-row starting spots. Gariepy, a former Serie ACT winner on the Montmagny 3/8-mile, launched away with a dominant lead as Trepanier faced a heavy onslaught that included Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour full-timers Remi Perreault, Kaiden Fisher, Gabe Brown and defending champion Raphael Lesssard.

The first major caution flag came out on lap 78 for Cedric Lemay’s spin in turn three to rerack the field behind Gariepy. Rookie Geoff Rollins spun in turn two on the restart to bring out the caution again as the field accordioned during his first visit to the Quebec Autodrome. From then on the field ran to the lap 101 competition caution with teams getting eight minutes to perform any necessary maintenance on their cars. Most teams put on two fresh Hoosier Racing Tires on the right while swapping front to back on their left side with many more throwing adjustments into their mounts as the clock ticked down.

Gariepy maintained the lead as the field returned to green, this time with Lessard, Fisher and Brown following nose-to-tail behind him with 99 laps left on the board. Another long green-flag run continued to stretch the field out until Lessard took advantage under a loose Garipey to lead lap 169. Tire wear was the name of the game from then on as they became greasier with each lap on the tough Montmagny asphalt.

Confrontation between Michael Lavoie and Trepanier spinning in turn one brought out the final caution on lap 192 with Lessard and Fisher leading the field back to green. Lessard took the early advantage but just as with his move on Gariepy, Fisher moved underneath when he misstepped in turn two on lap 196 to take the inside groove away. Fisher cleared Lessard to lead lap 198 and marched home to his first career win in the Province of Quebec with the CAN-AM 200 victory.

Saturday’s win was a huge comeback for the S.D. Ireland Concrete team after a blown motor led to a scrambled swap and a disappointing 20th-place finish at Groveton’s Riverside Speedway just six days before.

Raphael Lessard became the popular lone Quebecer on the podium with a second-place finish with Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour point leader Gabe Brown taking third. William Larue brought the #48QC home fourth with Maxime Gauvreau taking fifth.

Riverside winner Jesse Switser kept his nose clean all race long to finish sixth ahead of early dominator Dany Gariepy, Chaudiere winner Patrick Laperle, Andrew Larue and Remi Perreault to round out the top-ten.

The Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour is back in action next Saturday evening at Oxford Plains Speedway to headline the annual ‘Night Before the 250’ program during the 53rd Nitro Trailers Oxford 250 weekend! The Pine Tree State 125 is set to be the Tour’s lone trip to the Great State of Maine in 2026 with Saturday’s Post Time set for 4:00pm.
