Lessard Makes a White Mountain Two-for-Two in Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250 Triumph as Larue Motorsports Goes Two-for-Two on Same Day, 200 Miles Apart
/N. Woodstock, NH — White Mountain Motorsports Park opened their gates Saturday for the biggest showdown of the season with the Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour invading for the 8th annual Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250. With $10,000 on the line and plenty of strategy available to be there at the end of 250 laps, the 2025 edition only added to the magic that is the Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250.
Thirty teams from the Canadian Province of Quebec and three New England States entered the arena with officials opting to start all thirty drivers in the 250-lap main event. Three heat race qualifiers and two consolation rounds set the field with Kasey Beattie on the pole after earning a +6 in heat three. Beattie and eight-time Milton CAT American-Canadian Tour champion Brian Hoar set the tone early as the two raced side-by-side until Beattie took the upper hand. While a couple quick-spin cautions slowed the pace, most of the field felt content to run to the lap 100 competition caution for fuel only.
After taking fuel in a controlled, five-minute window, the teams were allowed to reenter the pits to take on tires and adjustments for the remaining 150 laps. All but four jumped pitside for fresh Hoosier rubber and a turn or two on one corner or another. Beattie and Nick Sweet remained on the field with Sweet taking over the top spot under the green flag. After returning as seventh on the grid, Raphael Lessard made his way around Sweet to lead lap 120 with the lap 154 caution for Remi Perreault’s violent turn four spin creating White Mountain’s race of the summer.
Kaiden Fisher lined up alongside Lessard with the two young guns going to war under the green flag. Running side-by-side, over and under Fisher led lap 168 with Lessard glued to his S.D. Ireland-yellow bumper. Content to ride, with fans present unsure if Lessard was playing cat and mouse for over seventy laps even as Jesse Switser began piling on the pressure in third. As the tires began to wear down, the three began getting ever closer, bouncing off one another around lap traffic while keeping righted toward the $10,000 Milton CAT check waiting in victory lane. Everything unraveled under the two-to-go popsicle sticks with Switser sliding up in turn three, collecting Fisher in a cloud of white tire smoke. Both cars restarted out of the top ten.
With a green-white-checker finish ahead, it was the Kancamagus 150 all over again with Lessard lined-up alongside DJ Shaw for a final psych-out to the finish. The two fought door-to-door before Lessard powered off on the outside groove and launched away to the $10,000 win in the 8th annual Milton CAT Midsummer Classic 250. In a miraculous turn of events, the Larue Motorsports team was split Saturday with Lessard’s teammate Will Larue competing in the rain-postponed NASCAR Canada event at Autodrome Chaudiere. Larue also won on Saturday night.
D.J. Shaw took second, a position he admitted in victory lane was a surprise for him as he was content for fourth before Fisher and Switser went around on 248. Derek Gluchacki took home third after maintaining a top seven position throughout the event. Erick Sands came home fourth to win the Sunoco Racing Fuels hard charger award from a 21st place starting spot with Nick Sweet taking fifth.
Jimmy Renfrew Jr. finished sixth followed by Jamie Swallow, Jr., Kasey Beattie, Ryan Kuhn and Joey Polewarczyk to round out the top ten.
